About Me.

My name is Carly Tatomir and I am an Advanced Care Paramedic from Calgary, Alberta.  My 23 year career in EMS has taken me around the province working on ground ambulance, air ambulance, and dispatch before embarking on a leadership journey in 2009.  In my current role, as Operations Manager, I no longer provide clinical care to the patients of Alberta, but I support patient care by overseeing the teams responsible for recruitment, hiring, staff scheduling and payroll.  EMS and the first responder community is a passion of mine and in 2022 I was a founding member of Camp Courage Calgary.  This is a summer camp for teenage girls interested in careers as first responders and it is modeled after the original Camp Courage founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2006.  I am currently the chair of the SAIT Program Advisory Committee along with an executive member of the EMS Women in Leadership Resource Group.

Outside of EMS my primary area of interest is pediatric behavior diagnosis and sleep disorders thanks to lived experiences with my youngest son.

Completing my undergraduate degree in Health Sciences in 2012 I took an 11-year break to raise my two boys and figured now, with busy junior high aged athletes it was a good time to re-start my academic journey.
